"It was created aeons ago, to be the weapon of a heroine. Only one woman in a generation may wield the Witchblade, any others that try will suffer terribly. But that lone woman, who bears the blade and leads her people into battle: She will win great victories, and slay her enemies in their thousands and go down in legend as a champion." That is the heritage of the Witchblade and once every generation a heroine is selected too bear the weapon and fight for the good, for the weapon is truly good. Through the coars of time many women has wielded the Witchblade and in our age a woman named Sara Pezzini has been chosen. Sara is not a great heroine, at least she thinks she isn't, and she regardes the Witchblade as a curse, something that interupts here life and places her and her friends in mortal danger. If she want's it or not is not the issue though; the Witchblade choose Sara and she can't change that... The Witchblade is a weapon forged when the world was young and has tremendous powers, powers available to only to it's wielder. Instinctively it protects it's wielder and provides the most suitable close-combat arm when needed. For Sara it seems to have chosen an all-round fighting glove as for others it has chosen swords, axes, spears and many others, but they all have control of the element of fire. It also carries a consciousness that urges the wielder into battle or warns her when danger lurks around the next corner. The Witchblade has natural enemies, the bearer of the Darkness and of the Angelus. The Darkness is a power that only men are born with and is passed on from father to son. The darkness is all through evil, although the bearer might not be. The Angelus is the power of light and tyrannical order. For ages the three forces has fought and reacts violentely when they meet, but the three forces acts as balances to each other. The present bearer of the Darkness is Jackie Estacado, a man that has chosen his own path and doesn't meen Sara any harm. What will become of their relationship is yet to discover...

Witchblade is now also in print in Sweden and therefore their is no reason what so ever why you shouldn't buy this excellent comic. The Swedish edition comes out ones every two months and each issue contains two sets of adventures, one is of course Witchblade and the other alters between Tales of the Witchblade, The Lara Croft Comic and the Medival Spawn - Whitchblade crossover, as yet. The price is only one third of the imported version from America and is available in all of Sweden. If you have the money though, I still recommend that you buy the imported version since it's printed on better paper and is written in the language it was intended for. |
